5-7-24, UP

Bob and I were on the water by 7:30a...

....and had our 1st fish by 7:45a.

We had wanted to keep our location secret today but some stalker hiker found us out! lol

While we did catch some small ones...

...and no, I didn't count that one. But that jig was deadly today!

Bob's 1st! On top water!!

But he did catch a few like this!

Today's fish, especially those that were 13-15" were fat and extremely feisty!

Like I said, this jig (boxing glove as Bob calls it) was the star of the show for me...until I lost it late. mad

The other lure that worked for me was a Bruised Bannana ZMan 4" soft jerk.

This guy (18") made an appearance early as well.

Hey Bob, get your fingers out of the way! You see, we had to use the cell phones as I left my camera back at the house.

More catching.

We kept at it until 1p, catching 22 in total. The wind did kick up at 11a and it was a royal PIA! I was ready to throw the towel in when Bob mentioned, "why not use the drag anchor?". Well, I didn't think about it but we did and that helped out a bit.

The last 2 fish were nice! Both caught between 12-1p, when I told Bob the fish don't bite! lol

The stogie fish went 18.25" (well, it did but that picture is missing some how) and was a beast! Bob wanted to weigh it. When it jumped, we both gasped! Looked way bigger then.

As mentioned before, all 13"+ fish were fat and healthy.

While we caught some shallow (little ones) the bigger fish were picking our baits off the bottom.

Great day out. Comfortable.

Water temps started just below 70dF and we hit 72dF in some of the shallower areas but it hung around 71.5dF in the deeper holes.

I should mention that Bob's 1st came on top water. And he had 4-5 other hits including one big one that came torpedoing out of the water. He also missed a few other fish as well. We had enough bites, misses and catches to say that we had a good day that could have been even better if we knew what we were doing! lol

I got some of those somewhere's?  Came from a guy in Hawaii who pours lead free jigs.  If you want, I can look for them and they're yours IF I FIND THEM

Best part of the report.

Nice fish!

Time for more practice

Re: 5-7-24, UP

I corrected my post. The 18.5"er's stogie pic is missing. Bob said it took (on his phone) but it's MIA. It was still a beast of a fat fish!

Great pictures!  It looked so peaceful out there and to have it all to yourself....well kinda!  Some fatties and they look really healthy.  Now I need to look up this bruised banana.
