I have no idea how many BGs I caught.....many dozens!
Started with a spider fly.....got bit every cast so I went to an ant. That produced but they were smaller so I went t a grasshopper fly. Only the big ones could eat that one but it got hit every cast.
60 minutes of steady catching......if you fly fish....go now!

Went back out after dinner and results were the same except they were a bit smaller. They are building their nests.

You have an open invitation to use my gear to try it out. I know where the blue gills are.....

Very cool! I caught a few bluegill ona fly with my spinning setup. Didn't try too hard though since they weren't the main target. Lot of fun on the ultralight though! On the other rod I only caught 1 bass. Perhaps I need to switch gears for a little bit.

Any size to them?

Yep...but I did not measure. Most were FAT!
The little ones (@7") are aggressive as all get out. Two or three hitting the fly at the same time. If I get time today, I am going to use a sub surface fly and try to get to the biggies that are on the bottom. All in 2-3' of water.
Come on by Sunday.....

Only a couple of hits on top but.....they were inhaling the sub surface green spider. better quality. The really big ones are guarding and not smashing lures...yet.
The cork on the handle is 7.5". This guy covers it well....

Fly fished (7 1/2', 4 wt) the entire perimeter of Cedar today and found about a dozen honey holes. Could not keep the pesky 8-12" LMB off my flies. Nothing on top water.
Spiders and buggers (with 1/2 the tail cut off) were the ticket. Light green was the best color, then black. Brown/orange stunk the place up.
I broke off 3 flies...was using 1.7lb tippet. One of them was a very decent LMB!
Many 8" type BGs.....and I mean many!
Oh...I was in my yak.
I brought a baitcaster and I never used it.

I will be out there Monday between 1-3 pm with my grandson somewhere behind you house. Need to find a good load of them to keep a 3-yr old interested!

Curly was out there with his grandson and they were whacking them on worms.
I used a black spider and did OK and the switched to a top water bug and had a field day. Any color works as long a there is some green in there.

I went back out one more time and the BGs destroyed my fly. The green foam body fell off and they were still hitting the thorax with wings.
