With a small bump in the river forecasted after the recent storm, I met Jimmy early at the ramp.  We got out ok and found a lane to try and get upriver.  It was not easy with lots of grass topped out and river still pretty low.





We meandered a while and tried some topwater but no takers.  After moving up a bit more, Jimmy was trying a Hybrid Hunter crankbait on a slow retrieve and got hit right at the boat.



Skunk out of the boat.  A couple casts later he hooked up again.  This was a kitty.



We made a move and, after struggling through the grass for a while, broke through and made a little run.  We tried a couple spots and different lures.  Grass was a pain.  I finally caught one on a red and black ring worm.





The smallies were not big, but very healthy.  It slowed after that until Jimmy hooked a little guy on a senko style bait.



We ended up starting a longer drift that we repeated a couple times.  We each got bites and lost a few fish.  A couple could have been bigger fish.  They were just hard to keep pinned.  I ended up with one more landed.  It was a chunky 13"er.

Nice morning to be out.  Clouds and breeze kept the temperature pretty comfortable.  Eagles were out and we saw a couple deer and one dead one floating upstream near shore.  It was hard to figure out what it was.

Off the water by 12:30pm.  River level made it to 1.68 feet.
