I didn't go anywhere this holiday weekend due to all the housework I wanted to catch up on, so I took advantage of Sunday to get out while it was only overcast in my area. Went over to a spot that I'm familiar with at Quantico called "Joe Fox Pier." It was about noon when I arrived and proceeded to toss out an old frozen shrimp I saved for bait. I rigged an old bass rod for this in a drop shot fashion using a circle hook (5/0).
The tide was rushing in and this particular location is a small channel inlet to the Chopawamsic from the potomac. It is located at the end of the runway of their airfield so no pictures in that direction. But, I also forgot to take any other pics! The great thing here is that there is a perimeter that is about 500 yds from the shore and there are zero boats allowed. So this is a great spot that is maybe 80 yds wide and 300 yds long. I toss in my line real quick and before I can turn around to sit down I have a bite and it's a 8 lbs blue cat.
This went on for the next two hours with 16 landed and 4 that came off. My gear was getting wrecked by the cats and I caught all types and sizes (blue, channel, bull). The largest went about 13 lbs and they all fought incredible!
Apologize again for no pictures, but what a few hours from shore!
