I got out solo. Slept in and did not get on the water until about 6:45am. Passed a bunch of Deer on the way in, so was hoping fish would be active. Water was stained and about 1.9 feet at Point of Rocks.
Made a run and started fishing. Very little surface activity and took until about 7:00 to get first bite on the speed craw.
I watched an Osprey snatch a dead fish the was floating downstream. It landed on a little beach/clearing to eat. I saw an Eagle land in a nearby tree. Within 5 minutes, 3 other Eagles were there and took over the catch.
No more bites there, so I made another move. Lots of pollen and debris floating on more brownish water. Finally caught #2 with the craw behind some rocks.
I anchored nearby and managed a dink on a keitech.
The wind was making floating difficult. The weather was great, but the fishing, not so much. As Ernie said, the fish were just nipping at the lure, probably guarding fry. I had one more fish hooked that threw my lure on a jump and later, caught this one.
I enjoyed the weather and watching the wildlife. Saw a mama Mallard with her 3 little chicks cruising down the shoreline. Saw a fox dash through a clearing. I also saw 2 fish that were sick just swimming slowly at the surface. One looked like a little flathead and the other was about a 12-inch largemouth.
Fishing was difficult with the breeze offsetting the river flow. I had to use the motor to move downstream. I finally called it and was off the water before 2pm as the wind was picking up.
