Guy at my church fishes a couple times a year on Guy's Day. They usually head north to Colorado or Alaska and chase slim rockets. He never fished in VA, so we had to do something about that.
Since it was in the 30's this morning, we opted to hit the water at noon and give everything a chance to warm up. Good plan
After a bit of basic training, we splashed about 1230. I asked to avoid heavily traveled jet boat area, and the mission was successful
Not to much going on with the wildlife. Did see a fox in the middle of the road sunning itself on the asphalt but upon approaching, he kindly got out of the way. Pretty cool
Fish were biting right away with the numb getting his first river smallie. Next hold, I got three out of in a row. Kept casting and occasionally hooking up. It was turning into a great day. Sun was high & warm, fish biting, and rotorcraft flying above getting their training in. They did a few maneuvers I've never seen
