We rolled the dice aging today and they came up smiling.
It was raining on the way there but once we shuttled and got on the water around 10:30a, we just got some sprinkles...and a bunch of wind.
But Chris had a plan and took away the wind factor for the most part.
Today we floated for 4.5 hours with a huge bonus at the end.
This was a new float for us although I've fished parts of it in my jet. There's no visible structure so you have to be observant of the water and find eddies and dimples in the water. Unlike fishing in a boat where you can run from spot to spot, a raft float is all about being ready to hit a target while moving. If it looks really fishy (or we get bit) we'll drop the anchor to thoroughly work that water.
As always on the UP, the scenery is spectacular!

George struck 1st with this nice one.
I then got a decent one but it had a huge sore on the side so neither Chris or I wanted to touch it so back in the water it went.
This kittie hit my underspin right by the boat.
We pulled over for lunch and as usual, George made some nice sammies (Cheese, roast beef, corned beef). We ate them so fast that I forgot to take a pic. Chris brought some home made cookies made by his mom. Incredible!!
We managed a couple more...

So we took out around 2:45p and headed back to my car. Chris asked if I had ever had ice cream at this particular farm store. "Nope", I said. So we headed there. They had farm raised eggs, meats, cheeses...all kinds of stuff. Plus soft serve ice cream that was as close to frozen custard as you can get. I was like a kid in a candy store! I ended up getting a cold brew coffee and chocolate ice cream shake. Chis got a salted caramel cone. Delicious.
I also bought a bunch of meat and eggs. And George found some scrapple so he bought a couple of pounds of it. HUGE bonus! There is nothing like farm raised and butchered meat. Way different and better that store bought.
While this float was not a typical spring float (although we learned a lot), we will do it again this summer for sure. But not on a near full moon.

Comment of the day.
Ernie and I were laughing and cracking jokes in the store with punchlines only we got. Chris has to apologize for his two 70 year old children.
Again, water I haven't fished for years along with a bit of a new stretch.
Would luv to see the history of some of the structures we floated by. I thought I saw bullet holes in one, but it turned out to be some sort of drilled hole - probably to either life or align the stones?
OKAY?
