I got out solo for a few hours. On the water just before 8am. Water was stained on MD shore and green on VA side. Water temp started a little over 45 degrees. After about 15 minutes in spot one I got bit on a tube. Fought pretty good.
Then it slowed and I made a move. Next fish hit the same tube while drifting.
The sun was out and it was warming. The bite had slowed and I started drifting. I switched to a TRD and finally got a good fish on. After a nice fight, I was able to land my first 20" smallie of the year. I weighed it and was surprised it was only 3.79 pounds.

The water was warming and the bugs were starting to hatch. Kept the TRD on for a bit and got this one.
Ate my sandwich and decided to try a hand tied little jig with a trailer. After a couple casts, I got a good hit and had a nice fight on my hands. Got this heavy one in the net. It was a little shorter but weighed 1.70 kilos (wait, what?) or 3.747 pounds. I somehow pressed the wrong button in my excitement.

The water temp was almost 50 degrees now. The wind started to pick up and floating was difficult. I decided to anchor in one last spot before heading in. After a few casts with a tube, this hard fighter bit the tube.
I was off the water by 1pm. Fun outing.
