River 3/10/2026

Got out again with Jimmy.  This time out of Edwards Ferry ramp.  Water started at a little over 4.5 feet at Point of Rocks and was pretty swift.  Water visibility was clearer but still a good amount of debris mostly floating.  Fished from about 8:30am until 1:30pm.  Water temps 50-54 degrees.

It took a while, but first fish swallowed a tube.  I hate that.

Then we saw two foxes waking up from their den.  Yawning and scratching and moving slow.  This one was a little rough looking.

Moved to a couple more spots and finally, I got a bite on another tube.  This fish put up an epic battle in the current.  It surfaced and shook its head 5 times.  It was a beast.  Jimmy tried to net it, and it dove under the boat.  I let it go back and tried to bring it up on the other side.  It surfaced two more times and Jimmy couldn't quite reach it with the net, so I said to hand me the net.  I finally got it in the net and after I lifted it in the boat the hook just came right out.  It was big.  We weighed it first and it was 4.06 pounds and then quickly took a couple pics and measured it.

I was pumped!  We did not get any more bites there, so we moved to a couple other spots.  The fish were feeding, but hard to locate and definitely not grouped up.  We saw a lot up bugs hatching with some pre-emergent bugs holding onto the anchor rope.

After eating lunch and trying a few spots we called it at 1:30pm.  Only 2 fish and I was bummed that I did not get Jimmy on any fish either day.  He goes in for back surgery mid-April, so our window is closing.  Great day on the water overall.

I have 8 yrs left to retire at 60.  With so many factors in play who knows what the future holds, but I have so far accumulated 5-6 different funding streams towards retirement and should be able to live comfortably until I have a heartattack promptly at 62. lol (Irony).
