Re: Friends missing.....

From his family: Roger Grissom Sr. HAS BEEN FOUND! His final journey took him 63 miles from the accident to a very rural part of the Eastern Shore. He was discovered by the homeowner and it was estimated he probably was there since Thursday. Roger still had his wallet on him and was wearing his trademark clothing. He will be laid to rest next to his parents. Burial will be private. Thank you again for all the countless rescue efforts, all of the prayers, support, and understanding. It's been an extremely difficult time for all.

Re: Friends missing.....

This was 5 years ago yesterday. Still seems like a dream.

RIP- Keech, Roger and Greg.

I see Jay once or twice a year when I take my boat to him for a fix. Thankful that he was spared.

Re: Friends missing.....

Thought about Keech and Roger today while out on the bay. I always wear my life jacket when out in cold water (anything less than 70dF for me). But it would be hard to survive for very long in water temps  in the mid 50's. How Jay survived the night is a miracle. But he's also a Marine.

Re: Friends missing.....

Another sad November day...

Capt. Lonnie Johnson (G-eye Jigs) is missing.

They found his boat at Taylor's Island (still running) but he was nowhere to be found.

They tracked his GPS and he was right in front of of Chesapeake Beach. The boat drifted and ended up SE of CB, across the bay.

Re: Friends missing.....

There’s a lot of folks out looking for him. I pray for their safety.

This brings back sad memories from 9 years ago.

I used to fish cold water all the time but it has diminished over the years. Frankly, the death of Keech, Roger and Greg still haunts me.

Re: Friends missing.....

Another one!

A 65-year-old waterman is missing on the water out of Deal Island, and police are asking anyone with information to please come forward.

Gregg Allan Thomas, 65, is a commercial waterman from Princess Anne. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police (NRP) tells us that Thomas didn’t return home the afternoon of Monday, Dec. 1, after working in the area of Deal Island. Shortly after he was reported overdue, his boat was found running with no one on board, the engine still in gear.

NRP, the Coast Guard, and several emergency rescue agencies launched a search. NRP says officers have been conducting surface and sonar search operations, but bad weather hampered those efforts Tuesday afternoon. They were set to resume the search at first light on Wednesday. NRP and the Coast Guard are jointly investigating the incident.

Ernie's public service announcement- Going out alone when the water is cold is a recipe for disaster!
