Got out again with Jimmy. Hoping for a better day with the new moon. Made it to the ramp a little after 6:30am and got everything ready to launch. The fog was pretty thick.
We moved along carefully and decided to hit a cove first. I was casting a spinnerbait and decided to bring it over a limb on a blowdown and a good-sized bass swiped at it. I switched to a keitech and a few casts later got the skunk out with a little guy.
I said to Jimmy, they are in the wood. That turned out to be the pattern for the day. We had an audience in that cove.

We made a move and were hoping to get something on a crankbait. After no bites on that, I switched back to the keitech and got this guy near a log.

We drifted that shoreline, hitting blowdowns and working the shore. I had switched to a coppertreuse big TRD and Jimmy was throwing the keitech. We were working this large tree when I looked over to see Jimmy had a fish. I was getting the net and I see the fish come up and jump, throwing the lure. It was a really big LM with a huge head. At least 5 pounds. Jimmy was quiet.
A little while later I hooked this one in a little cove.

Then I caught a green sunfish on the TRD. Jimmy wanted to keep it for catfish bait, so he put it on a stringer. Thee fog was starting to lift, so we made a move. We made it back to another cove and Jimmy got his skunk out. I think that was the keitech, which turned out to be a the bait of the day.

The new Hummingbird is working well.
We made it back near the end of the cove and Jimmy had the sunfish on a catfish rig. We were casting around and I turned to see the rod being pulled and it was about 6 inches from going overboard when I grabbed it. By the time I stared to reel to set the hook, it came off. Jimmy threw it back out and something grabbed it again. Jimmy grabbed the pole but it let go. He threw it out again and after about a minute it was taken again. This tome Jimmy was able to set the hook and had a nice fight on his hands. It took us a couple of minutes to get it into the net. It was a nice 6 pound channel cat.

Jimmy wanted to keep it for dinner, so he put it on the stringer. We fished the cove for a while, but the bite had slowed. Jimmy ended up gutting the catfish on shore and we put it in a bag to put in the cooler. We made a move to a cove out off the main lake. I was throwing different lures and Jimmy had the keitech. He started his streak as we moved from tree to tree around the cove and back along the main lake.

Big bass (landed) of the day.

I saw a baitfish jump near shore. I grabbed the rod with the keithech and hooked one that jumped and threw the hook. We had lots of missed bites and snags throughout the day.
We called it as Jimmy had a busy afternoon and evening. He caught about 7 LM and the big cat. I had 5 plus the bluegill. Another beautiful Fall Day to be on the water. Off the water by 2pm.
