Chris and I had beet texting for a few weeks to try to get an open date on the calendar so we could do some scouting for his future clients.
We splashed the raft around 7:30a. The idea was to do a loop in his raft for about 4.5 hours. Well we did that and then some.
What an amazing day on the water,. Good fish catching and some great exploring!
It didn't take long for Chris to take the skunk off!
And then me!
Chris was throwing a weightless fluke and a ned rig. I was throwing one of George's belly weighted swim jigs and the Berkley Flat worm in the 3.6" size (3-4 different colors). All were effective.
There were many, many fishable areas!

Like I said, we did lots of exploring into some cool areas. I noticed a strange rock structure below us...
...and it turned out to be a 16-17' boat!
We wondered how many catfish were hunkered down there.
We had several cool catches today.
I was dragging my lure over a flat ledge that was maybe 4" deep and this ferocious smallie came out of no where and destroyed my lure. It was quite the explosion. I will post all the good fish pics later but this one was probably 14" or so.
Another time, Chris said throw over there (over a ledge with only a small chute to the closer pool) but do you think you can get the fish up to the boat if you catch it? I said no way. But he insisted and I throw anyway. Sure enough, I hook it and the fish was running all over the place in a rocky area just rubbing my line against the rocks. He was going spastic and actually got wrapped in the line. Chris has the net but would we get him up? Yep, it was 17"! What a cool fight!
Yet another time, Chris said he was gonna cast to a certain area that looked super fishy and sure enough, he gets bit.
We were having a blast!
Most fish were post spawn and that was evident with the 19"er I caught. I got gypped on the weight!
Here are some of my fish...

Since we (Chris) had rowed up as we fished, now it was time to head back. But he wanted to explore some more so we made a toss here and there but I was done. It was around noon by now.
He wanted to see if he could cut through some islands and we made the trek up. Once we got close to the other side, there was no way out so we beached the raft and stretched our legs. And watered the plants!
Chris went wading and here's the story!

That was cool and he wanted more!
But no more bites!
Since there was no way out, we floated out but found another opening. Chris was determined to get to the other side!
Now, it was time to work
This was the end game!
We found a narrow passage and in no time, we were back out on the main river.
The ride back was fast as we had current, some wind and Chris' oars. We did make a few casts here and there but the day had been so good that were were totally satisfied.
We caught 20 or so smallies.
In the square mile or so we fished, there were plenty of targets to keep us busy all day. I thing we got off the water a bit before 2p.
GREAT day!

What an awesome day. Great report and pics, though the lack of food pics is disappointing.

It was supposed to be a short trip and then go separately to grab lunch.

Amazing report ernie! I really appreciate the scenic pics since I'm unfamiliar with that area. It's very cool to have that environment to fish in. Also agree with Bryan on this.....WORST FOOD REPORT EVER! LoL Bryan hit that nail on the head 100%.

This was only supposed to be a 3 hour cruise but we just kept exploring targets as there were so many.
I promise to work on my food reporting in future reports! ![]()

That would work!!
Maybe I can salvage this food report.
On the way to the ramp, I did stop at the Filling Co. for a Jersey Pork Roll, Egg & Cooper Sharp White American Cheese sammie.

Ah ha! No wonder you made it as long as you did. LOL

now you're just bragging ernie! haha. Funny thing is, being from PA I love scrapple....I just never said to myself that it looks tasty while sitting it the wrapper, but after it gets pan fried....oh yeah!

Pork roll is another tasty PA delicacy.
