The forecasts for today were all over the place, some said up to 6" in our area. Dulles got a T!
So why no Snow Prediction thread?
Curly knew it!

Last night, forecasters believed Leesburg/Sterling would get 1-3" but, from what I've read, two things happened. First the snow/ice mix stayed south and Fairfax, Manassas and Centerville got hammered. Second, temps rose slightly in the Leesburg/Sterling area.
National Weather issued a snow squall warning about 15 minutes ago. In Sterling, we had clear skies, that got dark during the warning. Now the sun's back. Again, the snow squall stayed south of Leesburg/Sterling and Fairfax/Mannassas/Centerville were affected
Or so it was reported recently on AccuWeather.com and Jay's Wintery Mix

I contemplated a snow thread, but I didn't think there was enough in the forecast for it. Yes, I guess I knew it ![]()

It's strange to watch the holes in the cloud cover on radar when smaller storms come from the West or Soutwest. Very consistent.
Larger storms or those coming from the East do not have this happen. A lot of heat given off by those buildings.

But the Leesburg effect (split of a storm) has been around for years.
No doubt those buildings give off some steam.
