6-11-24, NFS, SFS & MSS
Bob and I met up with Jason Ford at the Riverton Boat Landing for a 6 hour tour of the area. That was a bust as we were out for almost 8 hours! 
It was raining a little when we got there and it was chilly (for me) but th day turned out nice, partly cloudy and it got to about 74dF. The water temp was 70-72dF.
The target species was smallmouth bass but apparently, they didn't get the memo. We did catch 6-7 of them but largies were biting as were the long ear blue gills and sunfish. The latter 2 species were all over our smallie lures.
We made a ton of casts and got bit around 60-70% of the time. By the BG's and green sunfish. But we showed them and caught a boat load of them.
Bob and I caught a huge long ear...near citation size. His went 9.75" and mine was 9.5". They were both well built and we were not able to weigh them (need to be 1 lb for citation).

Been wanting to put my boat in that area for years but I've heard the rocks can be treacherous. Nice report!

Some bigguns! I love panfishing and those are some really nice ones. Really aggressive. Great report!

Jason runs a nice Ranger 18'er, aluminum. Stay river left on the way to he confluence. You can go up a bit on the SF (TM) and then down the main stem past the RR bridge to the utility bridge. From there to Rt. 66 you can run the middle and you can do the same down to the dam (well, just above it).
In effect, it's like a reservoir. It's 8-15' deep in most places.
More of a LMB fishery than smallies.

They were a real PIA until Bob caught his biggie. Then we went after them for a bit with ned rigs and smallie rigs. Some were in 5-6' of water but we wondered how many we wuld have caught if we had our perch rigs. They were fun.
