This is a short and sweet report 😁. Took off work a few hours early on Friday to get a little river outing in. Did a single access paddle upstream and float back down in an area I like.
First part paddling up in slower water didn't get me anything with throwing a fluke, favorite brown/orange, favorite reaction lures swimbait and Berley choppo around some areas. I didn't spend a lot of time because I wanted to to focus on a bigger area of shallower faster water with a lot of ledge rock above or close to the surface.
Got in the area and immediately had hits on the fluke with not a single hookup, which was the theme for the next 1.5 hours. Short strikes or something else. Then I tied on a new highly recommended swimbait from a friend and the day I was saved. Ended up getting 9 all 11-13" with a few fish hitting before I started reeking. Also picked up one on the crank and actually did get one on the old WinCo darter.
I started throwing a new brand of fluke because I'm down to 2 bags of the old WinCo darters, which were the best flukes ever made. Heavy enough to sink in a little current. I had picked up 2 packs of Strike King coffee infused flukes, which were supposed to have a little more weight. First impressions were positive as they did sink like the other ones and the tail end actually did have a little more action. I had gotten the grey color so will find an off-white or light blue similar to the old WinCo colors so I can dip the tail in chartreuse.

Nice report. Fish are either spawning or in a funk. Hope we get a good spawn this year. I noticed there is grass coming up already. Hooked fresh grass on Thursday and saw some floating. That always helps.
