Bev had wanted to fish with CT Campbell so we gave it a go today.

As usual, we met up at 8a at the Caverns and then off to the farm to do the shuttle.

Bev was ready!

When we put in, it was cool. No...it was cold! It was 38-39dF but it was sunny so I only felt the chill when in the shade.

It actually did not take long for Bev to take the skunk off the boat with this nice largie!

This was at 9:10a

After that, we hit a huge dry spell and it was not until 11:10a that we started catching them!

Bev's 1st smallie for the day...

...and then I then got my skunk off with this runt!

But now it was game on. We were catching (with Bev leading) fairly regularly.

One of my catches may have been the smallest smallie that I have ever caught!

But it counts!

The rest of the day was just plain fun!

While we could not find the bigger ones, we caught over 40 for the day...almost a virtual tie between me and Bev!

How many times have you cast a line over a branch and have the lure drop in the water while the line was still on the branch? And you said, would it not be cool if a fish hit it?

Well, Bev did it!

And we landed the fish!!

All in all a great day as the temps warmed up quickly. We had a slight breeze at times but most importantly, we had a blast!

We caught fish along the shore and down the middle. Mostly in swifter water but we did pick off a couple in the eddies. We are still trying to figure out where the bigger ones were.

Excellent report!  I've always said to myself that very same thing when my lure is over a light branch...."what if a fish hit it now?!"  Also...how about those steps coming down the hill!!   wow.

Great report. Been too long since I've fished the Doah.

It was a great day of fishing with my buddy Ernie.  Hell, it's a great day every day fishing with Ernie.  What a great guide C T Campbell is.  He has a great little fishing boat that he rows.  Once we got away from the bridge it was so quiet and peaceful on the water.  Caught a lot of small smallies but it is always a thrill when anything hits the line.  I'm ready for our next fishing expedition fishing for shad.  Fish on!!!!!!!
