Maybe one of those fly-bys over the lake bed caught ole Fred in a compromising position.
Rumor is they found out he was a member of MS-17.

Interesting development, Dan Turlik just reported that Fred Jennings (GM) resigned from Loudoun water on Friday. He was the boss. I wonder what's up with that?
I drove by there today and reminded myself that they were supposed to start the stakeholders meetings in January. They are late. I will send message to Sup. Williams.
Indeed Fred is gone, I want to stay positive on his replacement. In more bad news, a huge ally of ours, Sup. Williams will not be running for the chairman position. My one time attorney Charles King will however, which is bad news. Nice guy, but to say he does not have his house in order is an understatement. Janet Clarke is also bowing out.
We will need to work closely with the new supervisors to keep the momentum.

Agree about Shawn...thanks for the update. We have work to do. And we have not yet been contacted for the Stakeholders meetings but I am sure the Jennings resignation put that back a ways.

Paul Gilbert for NVRPA deserves lots of credit.....look for more community input and involvement in the future.
Kudos to everyone that was involved....many voices were heard. Certainly appreciate Dan, Bob and Tim S. for applying lots of pressure......and yes, Fred Jennings did leave a couple of weeks ago.

VDGIF will try to get in there in May and assess the fish population that remains....more later.

Wow! Can I suggest a saturday kayak fishing get together at Beaverdam for all those who put the time in to influence the board and make this happen? A little time to enjoy the spoils of a small victory!

So with the draw down, do you really believe they'll be fishing? I think it'll take atleast a couple years for the fishing to get anything close to decent.

We will know in May when VGDIF shocks it....there are some deep holes in there. And there was always a trickle from the natural creek.
When the drew Cedar down many years back, I was shocked to see how many fish survived in a puddle. We did transport them because it was a total draw-down.

The reservoir is full right now unless the picture of it frozen over posted on the Leesburg Today site is old. It was probably quite full before it ever got really cold. I think the most likely loss due to cold would be the gizzard shad, but that would be a good thing. I think there are too many big ones.
I think the biggest loss would be crayfish that didn't move with the water. Though that might actually help to catch fish.

Live report from the LoCoWater Board meeting.
Dan, Bob and I got to speak to the LoCoWater board today and thanked them for reopening of the res. It will be for 2 seasons and it will close again for needed repairs.
NVRPA will manage it temporarily and it is expected that they will do so long term.
There will be stakeholder meetings and I expect that when it is all said and done, we will have a much better place than what we had before.
Stay tuned.

They will but we already knew that. It will be interesting to learn what is there once Odenkirk shocks it in May. If i can be there for that, i will!

And from Goosey.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Fun place to go UL'ing during the summer

I talked to John Odenkirk and his concern is draw-down vs drain. Big difference. According to one of the engineers we talked to yesterday, there was a fairly big pool of @8' of water still in place before it started to fill in again. May electroshocking will tell us the "rest of the story".
Regardless, that place will be a prize if all goes to plan.
