Kayaking with Winds
Looking to get out in the kayak now that the temperatures have risen. But it seems like the forecasts always show winds in the 10+ mph range. I'm looking for recommendations on where to kayak fish safely when the winds are up in the 10-15mph. I would think that some places would be ok if the wind direction was good...but I'm not sure what to look for. So where would you go, depending upon the wind speed and direction, to kayak fish safely around here? The more specific the better regarding which stretch of river or creek on the Upper or Lower Potomac would be especially helpful.

Most of the UP
10-15 is not bad as long as you can shelter a bit. Most of these locations are narrow so you won't get the big waves that you would on the LP or Bay.
The only issue might be baddling against current and wind. I have done that in 30+ mph wind.....not fun.
Time to go fishin' again!

We have been out on Beaverdam Reservoir in pretty good winds. You can definitely find cover in coves on either side of the lake. The trick is when the winds are blowing straight down the length of the reservoir. You can still find cover, but it makes for a wet ride cutting through the waves on the way back.
