Orlando Fishing

I am headed down to Orlando with the wife and kids from the 20th to the 29th of April. I am looking to get out fishing at least for a couple hours. Not looking for a guide but any local lakes, canals or rivers. Thanks in advance for any input!

Re: Orlando Fishing

Go to Bass Pro and park out back of the shopping center. Two lakes stocked full of LGMouth. I got a honest 10 lber out of the smaller one.

Re: Orlando Fishing

Use the old I hafta go to Bass Pro real early in the morning for a sale and will be home by 10am.. Call if you are running late for extra points.

Walk in with a pre packed BPS bag and a lure or two you got before you left. Start by saying you could have bought really expensive such and such but decided a good night out was more important. Score even more points.

Re: Orlando Fishing

Thanks for the tips - I never ended up doing any fishing - We did Disney for 5 days (pretty intense). On our way down we stopped at Flagler Beach - the drive from ther to Orlando brought us through one of the collest fishing spots I have ever seen. We drove through Bulow Creek State Park. It was full of marshy water, streams and was insanely dense. It felt like we were driving through a jungle but instead of tropical palm trees there were oak and pine trees. Very cool and there were a ton of people fishing from shore and in canoes and kayaks - should have stopped. Next trip this place will be a definite stop.

Also, on the way back to VA we spent the night in Santee,  South Carolina near lake Marion. Any ever fish here. It seemed like another destination spot. Every thing about this place was fishing. It seemed like i had the only car without a boat trailer on it. The resturants/gas stations and 7-11's sold bait and gear.

I picked up a dozen shad darts for 3 bucks that were made by the owner of a gas station i stopped at. I am hoping to try them out before the shad disappear. Hopefully i am not too late.

There is where you should have tossed out a grub or a black ribbed worm w/ a chartreuse tail .....
