The river.....

I went over the Potomac (340 bridge) yesterday at noon and it was high, fast and dirty. After last night's rain....it could be a while.

Little Falls is above 7. Will it settle by next Saturday??

Re: The river.....

All this rain may turn the river on quicker. Dirty water heats up much quicker than clear..

I start next week and was hoping for a cold snap to delay the bite a week or two..

Heck it may be over before I am done..

Re: The river.....

Any thoughts on bait this year? White perch maybe, or does Capt Mike need to go into the salty business?

Re: The river.....

White perch work very well cut up. But they need to be 6 inches to keep. If cut up they are not 6 inches anymore.
Black Salties willbe available in April..

Re: The river.....

I was more wondering what Ernie and Curly were going to use at Fletcher's to replace live herring. Do the DC regs have a 6" min. size on perch, or is that just PRFC?

Re: The river.....

Save that old valve, Capt Mike says they make excellent catfish bait.

Re: The river.....

These guys did OK today, they do fish further south, the Aquia area.  The water in their pics does not look that bad.  And thats one helluva perch.

Re: The river.....

This USGS graphic at LF pretty much says it all...............coffee with one cream coming down the Potomac.

Values under 250 are muddy and under 200 are chocolate milk.  Values of 280+ will be fishable above National Airport.
