March 5-6 Snowquester Snow Total Pool Thread

This is the "snow total pool" thread for the Dulles official snow total for the storm.  All predictions must be posted here no later than 10 pm on Tuesday.  You can change your prediction at any time up until 10 pm Tuesday by editing your post (it is time stamped when you edit).  If 2 or more people tie, then the tie breaker is the earliest prediction by time.  Probably will not have an official NOAA number until Thursday.

I'm thinking about 11" right now at Dulles, but will wait a little while before making my final prediction (before 10 pm tonight).

10" is my final #.............

Re: March 5-6 Snowquester Snow Total Pool Thread

It is 4 am in Accokeek and we have maybe 1 inch of snow.. sleeting now and roads are not covered just grass.

I predict 2 whole inches before it melts away from rain.

Re: March 5-6 Snowquester Snow Total Pool Thread

Very wet snow in Ashburn....near 2 inches on grass....streets looks good.

DC has shut down but that is because of snowquestration.

NOAA is still calling for 10-14" in Loudoun.

Re: March 5-6 Snowquester Snow Total Pool Thread

Had 1" on the ground in Forestville when I got up. Had a blast of heavy snow around 7:30 that took us to 3". Now it's raining and we're back under 1" and the street is just wet. I'd like some snow for the dog to frolic in, but this keeps the wires up on the poles.

Re: March 5-6 Snowquester Snow Total Pool Thread

So...if they measure on asphalt, it will be on the low side. If on concrete, then a medium range. Now, if they measure on wood or other natural surface, then we get higher higher totals.

I see a protest coming......

Re: March 5-6 Snowquester Snow Total Pool Thread

It's melting here at about the same rate it accumulates.  Only 3" on the deck, but I know we've had at least 5-6".  Melting off my trees even faster.  Streets are clear with a little slush.

Re: March 5-6 Snowquester Snow Total Pool Thread

I bet if this keeps up though....we'll add another few inches throughout the night when the temps drop.  I'm more worried about everything icing up over night and trying to drive in the morning.  I'm not worried about moving in it....stopping in it is a different story! lol
