Close call for Paul Najdzin....

Paul's townhouse had a major fire a couple of night back. A lot of you guys know him.

This is what he posted on Facebook (I have his permission): Thank you for all of the emails, texts and outright love displayed by my amazing neighbors. There was a fire in my townhouse last evening that started on my deck from the BBQ grill. Although the back of the house and part of the roof are destroyed, and virtually everything in the house ruined by smoke and water damage, Jen, the dogs, the cats and I all got out safely. The Ashburn/Loudoun County fire crews were simply amazing. Most of all, thank you Jen for helping me through this, I love you so much.

This is a BIG hit. Here are the pictures of the aftermath....

He is in good spirits and is starting the cleanup already.

Re: Close call for Paul Najdzin....

Thanks guys. The whole event has been surreal. I was talking to my neighbors tonight and what seemed like an eternity, the reality was that the fire was out in about 10 or 15 minutes due to the amazing response from the fire department. And while it will be a long time before my life is back to "normal", I feel very lucky tonight. Lucky that no people or pets were injured and lucky to have such amazing neighbors and friends.

Work has been going on since Friday to board up the house, start the water mitigation process and pack and remove the contents of the house. I'm at the house right now and hopefully in the next hour or two everything will be out except my clothes which will hopefully be picked up tomorrow.

Tomorrow I'll meet with the insurance adjuster and 2 contractors. One who will take out all damaged walls, insulation, carpets, etc and one who will be rebuilding the house to its original state. I know it will take months to get back in but I'm happy to at least see some progress taking place.

I can't wait to get out fishing to clear my head. The first chance will probably be with Ernie on the 14th with Capt. Mike.

Re: Close call for Paul Najdzin....

Paul, your go forward attitude is inspiring, I cannot imagine going through an ordeal like that.

As I mentioned before, let us know if you need anything. If you and Jen want to get away and float a river or lake, my 2 yaks are at your disposal.

I look forward to the 14th, it will be a good night for sure!
