6-13-12, Pax River and creeks

I met up with Mo and Gabriel at 0505 in the usual spot and headed over to the ramp on Cuckhold Creek (feeds in to the Patuxtent River). Mo was full of anticipation since he had not fished this area since Carl passed away almost 2 years ago. Gabriel was exited to get out on the water.

It was windy but and we tried a few striper spots in the main river. The 1st area produced nothing but the second area gave up 3 top water stripers, nothing to brag about though. Gabriel did catch a WP!

But we needed to get Mo on some fish so we then moved in to a couple of known white perch spots and did not get a thing.

The river got rough....white caps and 2 footers so we moved in to Mill Creek and tried several spots. We picked off a few here and there....

Then I looked down and saw this....

.....which let to this!

I think that Mo picked up 7 or 8 stick fish, it was weird!

Finally, he connected!

But he was not satisfied....he needed to fish Mo's Cove over in Helen Creek. This meant a river crossing. I put the hammer down and no one lost any fillings. While there, we did catch some decent perch but the wind and waves were beating us to a pulp. We came close to the rocks once....too close so we went in to the creek and picked off a few more including this monster perch!

The wind never let up so we went back on across and decided to call it a day. We put 8 nice and fat perch on ice and Gabriel will have them for dinner tonight.

Great day on the water with a great crew!

??...all the pics are of white perch.

We caught lots of WP....they were scattered and we moved around a lot looking for new spots. Plus...the wind kicked our butt a lot. My boat is like a sail boat when the wind kicks in.

that is a heckuvva thing to name a creek--altho it only mirrors a common misspelling....
