so i have a block about the pavillion
fished it a few times w/ some succes, but no confidence
i started walking the circuit, and caught several fish in an area curly suggested.
one was a nice one, pushing 2#'s.
I went on around, and picked up 3 more shorties by the back fountain.
I saw the giant carp milling around.
went back through, got one more @ the honey hole.
i was happy.
i was using an orange a green J&P

This has been the best year in over 10 years for 2# and better LMB from Pavilion. The lake is making a comeback for the larger fish...... since we thinned it out some 2 years ago!

fished the pav first time in my last post. shore access is quite bothersome from opposite side of pav. with all the brushery. is the pavillion side worth anything? also,
how do you guys not get a billion pounds of algae, weeds, gunk on your j&p's? every cast for me, i spent time trying to find my lure in the ball of mess that i drag along the bottom.

Good job....in almost 16 years living in AV, I think I have fished Pavilion Lake maybe 3 times!

some areas are better than others.
if you feel the extra drag on your jig, snap your rod.
some times you will get a strike doing this.
snap it two or three times if you have to.
if it is a nasty area, you may only get the drop, or a hop or two before it loads up, and it wont snap off.
this can be ok, as most strikes come early in the cast anyway.
if the bottom is garbage, you can get bit swimming a jig also
keep practicing and you will get the feel
it can be painstaking, but over time a J&P can be the most versatile approach you have.
it is for me
