The weatherman befuddles me...

No call for rain but we had to delay our start 45 minutes because of it. mad

We were also made aware that we would get some wind in the afternoon but nada.

They also said it was gonna be 65dF but that never happened. It may have hit 60dF.

But...it was a nice day and we definitely had our fun talking about all the weather forecasts. lol

Our main target today was walleyes! Read to roll!

While we did fish for smallies some, the ones we caught were not picture worthy (one was @12"). And of course, we all lost a couple before they could have their pics taken.

But the walleyes were nice, most in the 20-22" range!

Lunch was from the Italian Gourmet in Vienna but those hoagies were devoured before pics could be taken. lol

Chris' mom made some blueberry scones that were amazing. I may have eaten 2 of them...

The days are getting shorter these days, this happened quickly!

Great (and comfortable) day out on the water!

Excellent report!  Chris seems to have those Walleye dialed.  Beautiful day on the water and Italian Deli sandwiches to boot!  Very cool.  What was the total?

The river was low, slow and clear as tap water.

We only saw one smallie roaming and probably went 4 for 6-7 on them. Was definitely on the lookout for a bruiser in the eddies. This year's fall smallie catching has been a bit of a mystery.

The 'eyes were more willing but were still stingy with their bites. Had to work for them I think we went 6 for 10 or 12 for them.

As looking at dissolved oxygen levels and they are below the low number. Significantly.

We need some rain!

Really nice walleyes! I rarely hear about people actually targeting them on the Doah, seems to be mostly a bycatch fishery. What were you catching them on?

While one was caught on a ned, the rest came on a Pearl curly tail on a 1/4oz jig. I caught one on an 1/8oz jig but you get a better feel with the 1/4oz. They generally hit on the drop.

There are some surprisingly deep holes in that area.

Sorry I am late putting my 2 cents in.  As always Ernie captured it very well.  Yes, Chris absolutely knows these Walters (Chris's name for them) inside and out.  The holes and structure in this area was really amazing.  Shear cliffs underwater going from 2 ft down to 20+ within 1 ft.  I was really surprised how big and healthy these Walleye were.  And that size puts up a nice fight.  One other thing that I respect so much about Chris.  He babies these fish after you catch them.  He never grabs them through the gills and settles them down and gently removes the hooks.  Minimizes all the stress on the fish.  Keeps them healthy for the next guy.  A bonus was a really nice sunset on the water.
