Catfishing Quantico June 5

This is really late, but I thought I should share.  I went out after work on the yak and had zero luck for bass and sh, so as the evening came I decided to have a little fun with catfishing.

I had a hotdog with me, so I decided to go use it as bait.  I proceeded to catch somewhere between 6-8 within a short timeframe with the largest coming in at 10+ lbs.  I apologize for the terrible audio.  I am trying a clip for the hat and only had a waterproof case, hence low audio.  But, the ripping of the line as the bigger cat took the bait....oh yeah!

Kept two small bluecats and released everything else.  It's my first time keeping cats and I have to admit that the flesh is clean and tender.  I only have a couple fillets that are maybe .3 lbs, but I think it'll be good eating.

Nice!!

And you had a hot dog with you? How convenient...

BTW, Blue Cat fillets are $11.99/lb at Wegman's. Straight out of the 'mac!

Time to go fishin' again!

Re: Catfishing Quantico June 5

An 8 year old kid, fishing a pond in Palm Desert, came up to me throwing a jig and said I'm doing it all wrong.

I asked him what his secret was, and he said you have to fish with hotdogs.  They work on crappie and gills too.

He had eight different knots, swivels, and sinkers.  I asked him if I could return his favor and retired everything to one knot, a slide float and a split shot.

We both enjoyed our lessons and caught fish

Kowl thing was his grandpa and a friend were watching the whole thing from a bench close by enjoying a cigar

Always nice to find a local

Good on ya George!  I always found so much reward in helping a new fisherman in the ways and just like you....we always learn something new everyday.  And honestly....who wouldn't want to hear from a local on how to fish the area 8 years old at that!  That is a cool fishermen to fishermen moment.
