In a release, D.C. Water said starting Monday, June 15, crews will begin repairing 1,700 linear feet of the sewer line at Muddy Branch near Pennyfield Lock — known as Lock 22 on the C&O Canal.
“Inspections found structural deterioration, including significant corrosion and exposed rebar that requires immediate attention,?? according to D.C. Water.

We've been ignoring infrastructure for so long that it's just a band aid. Concrete is not a solid...it breathes....coated rebar is still fairly new and even then when workers cut it apart it defeats the very purpose of it being coated. The Department of War spends over $23B in corrosion annually....so why wouldn't I be surprised about cities and counties having issues in things that they never invest in.

Agreed. No one wants to pay more for water or power or taxes, but these things must be properly maintained. Utilities need a more long-term action plan and stick to it.
