Shore 5/12/26

With the low water, I figured I would skip the boat and just try an early shore trip.  It was chilly, but the water was still in the 60's.  I brought 3 rods, my little popper, a little craw and a 4" roboworm.  I got to my first spot about 5:40am.  I tried a few casts with the popper and had one swipe at it but miss.  Then I realized I left my phone in the car.  I got the phone and took a sunrise picture.

I switched to the little craw after no topwater action.  About my second cast, I felt a bite and I reeled down and set the hook. It felt like a nice fish.  After avoiding a large branch in the water, I was able to guide the fish near shore and grabbed it.  It was a very chunky smallie.

I stayed with the craw and after a few casts, got another hit.  They were kind of hitting it multiple times in a row.  I set the hook and it was another nice smallie.

The craw bite slowed and I saw a little topwater activity, so I went back to the popper.  After a couple casts, I finally got one hooked.  This one was built like a big Crappie.

These were all by 6:30am.  Then the bite died.  I grabbed my stuff and debated whether to try another spot.  I figured, what the heck.  I moved the car and took a little walk upstream to some rocks.  I was bummed to see trash just left on the shore, including a newly bought Weber Grill and its box.  I grabbed what I could on my way back.

I got to my spot and decided to throw the Roboworm.  I made a few casts toward the middle of the river with no luck.  I adjusted and threw it downstream a little and was reeling it in slowly, when I got hit.  I set the hook on another feisty smallie.  It did not want to lie still.

It was almost 7:30am and I headed back to the car.  Beaulitful morning and fun fishing.

That first pic screams topwater, surprised they weren't taking it. Great results anyway.

LOL!  Not enough hands to get that.  Sad to see what people do.

That's awesome.  Appreciate the bank fishing for sure.  Great results and that one that looked like a crappie is really wild.  Also can't stand that people do stupid crap like that.  I especially hate seeing fishermen do it.
