I got to go on Bob's boat today and we had decent expectations. We had an incoming tide (good), clear skies (not so good) and no current coming down from the dam (not good).

Still, I got some decent reports from Wednesday (cloudy) so the promise of a decent day was there.

We started off with the temps in the 50's but it warmed up quickly.

But the fishing was not so hot. It was rather disappointing.

We did start up top and we got plenty of nips (I think they were small herring) and  few hookups that came off.

Bob took the skunk off 1st...

.. but it took me a bit to get mine off.

There were lots of these hanging on the edges, chasing down the herring.

While we were up top, we got 14 fish including a near 3 pound LMB that I caught on a shad spoon!

Around 11a, we decided to drop don below the foot bridge although reports from down there were not favorable for today (should have been there yesterday),

Bruce and Ronnie...

...reported their catch and it was bleak. Only 2 herring.

Bob and I only got 2-3 bites down there so we went back up but there was now a stain on the water form the cement plant overflow and we only got one more shad.

So...it was time for lunch!

Bob got the brat...

...and I got their special, a chicken cheese sub that was very good!

Tough way to end the shad season, I think it's about done up there.

Lots of traffic on the way home but that's NoVA for you!! "lol"

A day of being out on the water beats out lots of other stuff!

nice!  A day on the water beats being at work for sure.  I have failed to make my way out so far with work being so chaotic.  But I appreciate these reports to keep my motivated to get out there when I can.  Living through your days of good and bad topped off with a sammie......it keeps my hopes alive gents.
ps. I find that pond crawler (or whatever version that is) kinda sketchy!  haha

He's got that thing tricked out. Great seats, top notch motor, center console....
