I had a spare hour in the afternoon and was notified that locust shade pond was stocked with rainbow, brown, and tiger trout. I stopped by with a pole and small pack just to get the line wet. I had no intention of keping anything, so I wasn't concerned about catching to keep.
The place was bustling with people so I found a nice open area and just started casting my kastmaster. Tried a nice mini Hira Tailor (Raid softbaits) under a bobber also. I saw a bunch of trout give interest, but no bites. I noted people around me were picking some off here and there but nothing wild. There were some nice rainbows pulled up.
The one thing that kept me from enjoying my time were folks who lack basic courtesy. I'm in an open area so why setup right next to me and cast across me? If I had a badge....I would've checked everyones license and catch limit. Anyway, this isn't to complain....I was just noting the little things that remind me why I enjoy fishing on Quantico. The extra measures to check in and scrutiny applied keep the rift raft out.
I ended the day with no catch, but enjoyed getting out regardless. I ended with a cheap reel falling apart on me and an excuse to order a new shimano! lol

So many good (and some sad) things about this post! Some folks are just....jerks!
Have you ever tried a Joe's flies in the 1/4oz?

Don't let people get you down.
You got out and fish - you've won already

Yes, I have no regrets as I got out and casted a few out! I use joe flys regularly and the browns love them!!! Some of the biggest browns I've ever caught were on those. Life is about opportunities that are taken for enjoyment and peace, so I'm with you george.....enjoyed it all.
