I appreciate the support gents but this really isn't a $$ issue. There's a yearly cost and then a domain renewal cost (every 5 years) that I can/will handle with no problem.

The issue is that the Forum platform is old and antiquated as you saw recently when they told me we are running out of space. I just don't know how long they will support the platform. For sure, I'm not interested in starting something new if this one goes away.

Ever since I closed registration (invite only after they contact me) we've had no problems with scammers and the like. I'll never forget getting a call from Curly one day telling me that some scammer had put some nasty pictures on the site! Holy crap! I shut that down in a nano second. We have kids (well, now they are adults) that visit the site. I've always taken great pride on having a very civil forum.

So...I can certainly renew the domain name when it's due (12/26) but cannot control when the platform sunsets. I think we can keep it going under those parameters. I'll revisit at the end of next year to see what we have and what they let us have (storage).

You're the best ernie.  whatever happens, we know you have been the force behind all this goodness we share.

I just heard back from the “host??  and they recommended deleting some of the history.

Not sure if I want to do that but may have to.

What should go?

Agreed on the Classifieds but deleting two categories didn’t make a dent. Plus it’s mostly words. Few pics.

I have another inquiry in to the hosting site. We shall see.

Just got this: "We have taken a look into the usage and can see that your forum is using 9.2GB of your total 10GB of storage space on the server. Looking through the usage this is actually due to your Error log that is sitting at 9GB of storage as you do not appear to have emptied this. Your site will regularly generate errors and it is important to go through and not only address the errors but also clear the log out periodically otherwise this will eventually fill up. We have cleared the log file for you and you are no longer running into any space issues.

As the error log shows as recently updated as earlier as today we would recommend to look through and try to address these error / warnings as needed for your site as a new log has already started to generate."

We are safe for now and since I have no clue how to clear error logs, I am hoping it doesn't fill up fast.

I spent way too much time trying to figure this out but the folks at Doteasy were great to work with. They took pity on me when I said I was an old fart trying to run a fishing board.

There should be plenty of space now. Plenty of storage once they deleted the error files, which were many. More than 10 years of error files. That's what choked it up.

I'll have to ask one of my boys on how to accomplish this. I think I tried before. Not sure there are any "files" since this is a hosted forum. But thanks!
