Crab cakes
Coming from a family that owned numerous seafood restaurants in Maryland, I found a place that's excellent in the local DMV

Those look amazing.
I caught a few over the weekend so I'm making crab cakes or maybe crab topped fish tonight. I really need to work on my picking game, it takes me FOREVER to pick half a dozen crabs.

Alice Quade (RIP), who worked at Quades Store in Bushwood MD since she was a teenager, was the best crab picker. She got every micro ounce of meat from every part of the crab. Then she mixed up her concoction and on the griddle they went. Amazing crab cake because she incorporated the "dark meat" as well as the white clump. I miss having lunch at their place while fishing the Wicomico River.
Time to go fishin' again!

Alice sounds like an amazing person! If I was able to eat crabs....yeah....I'm all in for catching crab cakes!

I don't know how those pros do it. It's like the crab turns into a completely different critter when it's in their hands. She could probably do 5+ in the time it takes me to pick 1.

When ever I showed up at their store, Ms. Alice would say, “there’s that nice boy from Virginia†! I developed a good relationship with the family. Her son (RIP), grandson and granddaughters were big into baseball and softball.
The store was sold a few years back.
Interestingly, one of my neighbors grew up down that way and knew the Quade’s well. He was shocked when he found out I knew them as well as that area so well.
Time to go fishin' again!
