I wish they would take the crew from Algonkian.
Offline
There are many crews that work out of Algonkian. Some will go and some will stay. They’re high school kids…would rather they do that than other crap. A few of the HS fishing club kids row crew.

On-water recreational activities on Beaverdam Reservoir will re-open on Monday, April 1. Reservoir Park is still an active construction site with heavy equipment, therefore it is unsafe for pedestrians and motorists to enter the new park site, and access remains prohibited. The public will only be able to access the reservoir from the Mt. Hope Road parking area. Please note that parking may be limited and that boating and/or coming ashore in areas near the Reservoir Park construction area is prohibited. Please see map for accessible areas and visit https://ow.ly/iyWG50R3Ew9 for details.

Looks like a fun place to go hiking.

Yes, once the Park is done and we have access down there and also when they connect the northern trails.

Good to see access re-opening.

6/12/2024 - Please be advised that parking will be limited at the Mt. Hope Road Launch Point. The currently closed, south bound trail head at Mt. Hope will be undergoing an improvement project which requires closure of the lower left parking area. The project is scheduled Friday, 6/14 through Sunday, 6/16 and will resume on Friday, 6/21. We encourage hikers to access the trail system from Edgar Tillett Park or Reservoir Road to alleviate congestion at Mt. Hope Road. Thank you for your patience while we undergo this improvement project.

Any recent fishing reports?
I've done real good on that lake when I moved to the area in my Jon boat. Then things went down hill and never returned

People usually stay quiet about this place.
I remember having a banner day before the big C.
Paul Naj used to slay them with his deep diving crankbait off of his favorite point.

8/9/24- Grand Opening Date to be Announced in the Coming Weeks
Construction on Reservoir Park is nearing completion and a Grand Opening date will be announced in the next several weeks. While the work continues this summer, on-water recreational activities are allowed. The public can safely access the reservoir from the Mt. Hope Road parking area. Boating and/or coming ashore in areas near the Reservoir Park construction area is prohibited. Trails are open except in the area near the Southeast portion of the property.
The park is being funded and constructed under a partnership between Loudoun Water, which owns and maintains the 300-acre reservoir as a source of drinking water for Loudoun County residents and NOVA Parks, a regional park authority in Northern Virginia. The innovative park design includes an entrance road, parking lot, welcome center, restroom building, crew facility, boat rental facility, several pavilions, trails, waterfront boardwalks, a bridge, plantings, site utilities, educational exhibits, and various other site features -- all designed with source water protection in mind.
Loudoun Water and NOVA Parks expect the park to be completed and open to the public this fall.

Wife's been wanting to get out in the canoe. Nice place to take her and do some paddling.

Already, some folks are already bitchin'! They have no clue that the Reservoir was almost closed to the public a few years back. Take what you get and enjoy it!

I checked out the park today. Seems that for now there will be no collecting of fees to launch a kayak. However, there is no getting close to the water with your vehicle to unload. You'll have to carry/cart it over 500ft. No fishing from the pier or bridge.

T. is right, it would be tough to launch a yak or canoe from there without wheels. Although, I am told that they will have carts for people to use.
My personal feeling is that this park is not only beautiful but it will be used in a grand way. There will be a lot of people there during good weather times.
To think it was almost shut down for good....
So, if I had a kayak, canoe or small Jon, I would launch where we always did, at Mt. Hope and on the other side at Reservoir Rd.
The Mt. Hope launch has been cleaned up and looks like a great place to launch a yak. I forgot to take a picture here.
They are still working on the hiking trails but once done, you will be able to go all around the res. Be prepared because it will be a 6-7 mile hike.
Here are some pics from today's hike.

From the park: With winter fast approaching, water access to Beaverdam Reservoir for all on the water activities is now closed for the season. Fishing from the shore and the Crew Overlook Pier at Reservoir Park is still permitted. The parking lot at Mt. Hope will be closed for the season. Hikers are encouraged to begin their hike at Reservoir Park. Thank you for a great season!!!
