Since there are carp everywhere right now still spawning. I thought why not catch a few for fun and go for a sleigh ride!
What are your go to baits for them? I'm going to go with my father n law's recipe that my wife makes for me....bread bait. Cinnamon and a bunch of other spices mixed up with old slices of white bread and balled up unto a circle hook.
Thoughts anyone? I would appreciate any suggestions since I haven't done this in 30 plus years.
I'm going to use my 7 ft st croix rod with shimano stradic 5000 reel with 20 lbs braid. Although I maybe should change out the rod (since it's a bass rod) for an ugly stick heavy I inherited from my father.
I'll anchor down with two stick poles to position myself in the middle of the carp chaos!

Ok. All jokes aside about carp fishing in the US
I've seen them - allot of them
The English have it down to an art. I've always told guides to market in England and take them down the Potomac. 40 pound beasts on boilers.
Yes, you should fish for carp
Baits are lunch meat, boilers or a bonus catch fishing for bass with a grub. My biggest came on a Berkeley's trout bait. Very small STRONG hooks
If you hook a big one be prepared for those stick poles to be tore out and chaos like you've never had happen.
I had one drag me through a class II in my kayak.
Do It!

I caught one on a lure in the UP (ML stick) and had to use the motor to catch up to it. It was sreeeeeeeaaaaaming!

I think that's what I'm looking for ernie! The last time I had anything screaming out line was when I had gone red drum fishing down in Tx with bass rods. It would be fun to at least share a catch picture, but even more fun trying to lift any football size fish!
