Every year it seems that I clutter my garage and take on any excess from my wife's garage (yes...we seem to have a his and hers...lol). Anyway, as a plan to better organize this year I decided to rearrange my tool wall and tool box as well as overhead storage and rack system. I'm doing this in part for the new kayak and just cleaning out things I haven't used in the past few years (anyone need an electric snowblower?). haha.
So, I started out with the things I could do easily like the fishing lures and rod rack system....might as well enjoy what your doing right?!? I'll update this post as I make progress...need room for a few things including a starter laser engraver that is pretty awesome!
New lures (maybe get them out of the box this year)
lure organization
Socket organization

Ahh, george....I'm working on it. I'll try to post a video eventually of the arrangement. Might try to do a racedeck floor too.

Great job and nice collection!

Looking good...the fishing stuff at least. Shad season is just around the corner.
The other stuff looks like too much work!

Spent some time over the weekend to further organize by adding two ceiling shelfs above the garage door. Measure twice! Worked out great and I was able to take more things from the house and store it. I also ended up taking a truck load of things I don't need to the dump. Mostly things I kept and didn't have a need for like a tile cutter, JL subwoofer, etc.. I plan to continue to toss things. I'd sell stuff, but to be honest.....I don't want to deal with people these days.
This is the feelfree lure I'm prepping to give to my friend at lake anna. In the meantime I'm using it for sizing for the new lift system.
This is what it looks like with the two racks
The Harken lift is set to put the kayak on the truck and take off whenever I need too

I actually have the rods all tied in. They don't move unless I unstrap them on both ends. I somehow inherited some heavy deep sea rods and reels that I wouldn't use from my dad. I didn't know what to do with them...still don't. I'm thinking about passing them on to my friend in Kent island for his boat.
Maybe keep one lighter one for catfishing!

added decent lights so I can see better at night. The mini split in the garage has been a lifesaver for me this winter. I've even teleworked from my garage on several days.
These lights are night because they're light weight, cover a lot of areas and plug right into a screw in outlet so they turn on with the regular switch without me having to hardwire it in.

It's looking good!
I have a couple of friends that have true garage bars. Yes, the do drink some when in there but the their places are the neighborhood hang out. Lots of guys in the 'hood stop by when the light is on.

Sweet! I've seen a few that are pretty nice and a great hang out place. I quit drinking a couple years ago and I don't have sidewalks, so there isn't going to be anyone stopping by just to say hello. hahahaha.

So jealous. I'd kill for a garage like that. Great stuff.

I hear you! I moved to this new build back in 2019 right before covid and never had a garage let alone two. I'm not trying to go overboard like some you see on youtube, but want it to be practical for my uses. Believe it or not, my dream as a kid was to own my own riding mower/tractor. That would be the thing that meant I had succeeded in life....having enough of a lawn to mow with a riding mower, fruit trees, big garage! Don't get me wrong....my wife's garage (you can probably see the door from one of the pics) let's just say I'm not allowed to put anything in there! lol

I know what you mean because I came from a townhouse in centreville where a car barely fit! This garage is 20 ft deep I think. The kayak is 11.5 and there is still another 8 feet of room. The lights are led lights called octagon lights. They're real easy to put up (since they're light weight) and you can make it any shape you need like I did.

I have to ask. There lots and lots of tools on that tool wall. What in the world do you use them for?

lol ernie! I do a lot of my own vehicle work, tractor maintenance, woodwork, weapons tooling and yard work. I did about 85% of the work on my truck except the super charger (that involves breaking down the engine almost 50%), that would be the suspension, snorkel, racks, lights, bumpers, winch, bed roller, sliders, full interior, etc..

Still better than me. I have to make room for my next boat...

Wow ernie! I love how clean your racks hold the rods. I gave a bunch of my rods to my neighbor kid and inherited some deep sea ones. I am going to see if my friend can use them at Kent Island (off the crab boat).
I just got my first fly rod for Xmas and a tenkara rod, so I'm excited to try that from the yak or boat. Nice arrangement sir!

I have some very specific reason for this....
-Truck for kayak hauling (without a trailer) and for camping, hunting and offroading
-Tractor since it's a childhood dream to own one! And it literally already paid for itself with all the landscaping and tree cutting I've done. lol true story
-Suppressed rifles for plinking in the backyard and not disturbing the surroundings and night vision scope to take out any coyotes that begin attacking any of my animals (not my animals, but neighborhood cats, foxes, opossums, raccoons)
I have a camera in the yard and I see the animals all the time coming through sniffing around. No big deal, but last month a coyote came through and everyone vanished for a couple days (hiding I suppose). They all seem to make it back as I haven't lost anyone I've been watching. Heck I have a fox that lost the fur on it's tail (mange) and I'm working to cure it with ivermectin in hard boiled eggs. Side note, I can't believe how dumb people could be to take that stuff for covid....natural selection!

Those racks were made by my friend and fishing mentor, Carl. He donated one of them to the HS Fishing Club for a raffle to raise funds. I asked Charlie, the president, as to how how much money they wanted to raise. I added a few extra $$s to the number and the rack became mine. Now I have 2 of them. They are maple wood and expertly made.

I didn't think you could just go out and buy them. They really are pieces of art imho...maple wood too! Just beautiful work. It's pretty cool that you have something like this made by Carl.....I feel the same way about certain things I have from people I respected and lost.
