Charlie and I met Bob Morgan (Osprey) at his house at 7 AM and we headed down Rt. 5/301 to get some fishing in on the Potomac River. We were in no hurry since it was cold so we made a breakfast stop and finally hit Aqualand Marina shortly after 8:30 AM.

It was cold, breezy.......



....and the river had a bit of a chop on it......



But this was the 1st trip to the river for us this year so away we went! By the way, we saw the boat in the picture above land a nice 41" striper (with sea lice on it)...that was their only catch of the day!

At 1st, we hugged the wall at the Morgantown Powerplant....but caught no fish.



We then drifted a bit but we got no hits and a few snags. We knew there were fish here from previous reports and the fact that we saw the big one brought in

After a bit, we anchored in the still water and started tossing lures towards the turbulent waters. Then...I got a hit and brought this guy in....



Skunk off me and the boat! I was excited to say the least!

A few minutes later I got another hit and this nice 29" beauty came aboard!



My lure of choice was this round hair jig tipped with a plastic eel.....



I put that lure together about 4-5 years ago and had never used it! Not too many minutes later I looked over and Charlie was hooked up....would he land his 1st ever jigged striper?



Of course he did....a nice and fat 25 incher! He was using an albino Bass Assassin on a 1.5 oz jig.

Now, only the Captain is fishless. He was throwing his reliable blue/white sassy shad but had no bites until I looked up and saw this.....



I got the net and a nice, fat 24 incher was boated!



We caught these fish just as the tide was starting to run out and in a period of about an hour. After that, we got nothing but lots of wind and snow showers. Yes, it was cold but it was great to be out.

Many thanks to Bob for taking us....it was a great day (we called it at 1:00 PM). I think I know where Bob will be on Saturday!
