6-30-21, Chesapeake Bay Veterans Wheelchair Accessible Boat Fishing

We are looking at conducting a (or more) “Chesapeake Bay Veterans Wheelchair Accessible Boat Fishing” event this summer (tentatively Jun 2021).

The “Chesapeake Bay Veterans Wheelchair Accessible Boat Fishing” event will be hosted aboard the Fish “Redeemer” - see attached flyer.  The “Redeemer” is a classic Chesapeake Bay deadrise boat, CY 46’ Composite Yacht designed and built for maxim stability, comfort, and ease of access entering and exiting the boat for wheelchair bound persons.

We request your feedback on your interest in attending/supporting this event.  A few things to mention before you respond:

     - All CDC guidelines will be followed.

   -  Event is open to all Veterans, Active Duty, and Military Family Members.  NOTE: space is limited so preference will given to wheelchair bound Veterans and caregiver, if caregiver is needed.

     - Participants will have to provide their own transportation to Ridge, MD

If you are interested in a June 2021 trip, please reply to this email.

If you are interested in a trip later in 2021, please reply to this email with a time frame you are interested in.

If you have any questions about this event, please respond to this email

Please visit  www.fishingcommunity.org/events for more information about events for 2021. Not much there yet but we are starting close in on dates so please check periodically.  And we encourage you to extend the invite to others you think would like to attend, volunteer or donate.

If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact Paul (703-508-0065) at paul@ketrick.org or  Ernie@Ketrick.org.

Hope you will be able to join us!

Re: 6-30-21, Chesapeake Bay Veterans Wheelchair Accessible Boat Fishing

And this is what we do this.

A note from Aaron:

"Great to meet you Ernie! Thanks for an awesome day! Dad really enjoyed himself, but the heat took a lot out of him. It took a great effort to get him out of the car and into the house. He's been resting since we got him into his chair and settled. Thanks Again!"

I said that next time, we would go when cooler.

"That would be Awesome! Dad explained he enjoyed the finishing, but really enjoyed hearing Greg (Capt. ) speak about the landmarks, and he especially enjoyed when he laid the throttle down heading back to the dock. My sister and I have very protective of Dad due to his stroke and today was really the first trip out, with the exception of a doctors appointment, since Covid-19 pandemic. Not regularly getting out for P/T showed tonight, as he was drained physically, but mentally I believe it did him good. And for that, I'm so thankful!"

Yeah, it was a hot one and I was thinking that might be an issue for some.  Overall though, a great result for your efforts and something to look forward to in the future.

The boat has A/C in the spacious cabin. And it has a wheelchair elevator to go down to the head. Amazing vessel.
