Bob and I met up a little before 8...John was already out.
It was chilly out (41df) but not bad at all.
Once we put in, I decided to hit the middle around the 3rd island. But 30 minutes of no hits got me to move up a little and hit the VA shoreline. Good decision.
The 1st fish was a nice 17.25 incher on a soft plastic craw hooked in to belly weighted swim hook.
We were using my new drift anchor and this time it worked great...game changer. Nice .5mph drift.
The 2nd fish came on an olive Jacks worm...a very plump 17.5".
Then a 17 incher on the Jacks worm again.
And then a FAT 18 incher was landed...on the same Jacks worm.
Fish # 5 (yes, on the Jacks worm) was a decent 14.5 incher.
That's 84.25 inches of fish for the 1st 5 fish!
We then made a move to the XX which is now a single X but the wind and current were unfavorable. We figured since we hammered them there a year ago to the day almost that we would score. Nope!
After taking to John (he was catching a few) we then drifted the middle for as bit but I didn't want to waste time since Bob has a time limit...or he gets stuck in very bad traffic.
So we went back to where we caught fish, but just a bit north of it.
Bob immediately scored on a nice 16 incher!
And then another.
I caught a 14 incher and then for the rest of the drift, we caught a few more but they were smaller. I think the total was 8 for Ernie and 4 for Bob with the usual 3-4 that got off.
We pulled the plug around 2 pm.
Beautiful day on the water. Wind was a factor at times but not major.
Water was very clear and the temps started at 52-53df and was 55df when we got off.
The Jacks worm caught most fish with the finesse swimmer (I learned what that was from John today) catching a few of the smaller ones.

You did great! I stayed on the water too long (off at 6pm). I ended up with 17 fish, but not as many big ones. I will post a little report. Jacks worm was a good call and tubes worked. Cold front and wind shut down the bite.

Debbie and I went out for a burger and when we left Elevation Burger (BOGO and good), I noticed the big full moon! Good thing I didn't know it before this morning...would have been skunked!

Ernie, your 17.5 looks like 17.75" on the measuring trough.

He may have slipped back when we took the pic. It was just at 17.5". I probably could have tried to sit on it and stretched it a bit....

I have an extra coupon if you want it. It is just for the One Loudoun location like Ernie mentioned. Maybe come down, fish with E then get some burgers! lol

That sounds like it would be a great day. I have Shake Shack, Five Guys, Elevation Burger, Mission BBQ and McD's all within 5 minutes so there is no lack of beef in my household!

Lol. Yesterday I realized how many burger places we have, some that popped up relatively recently. Five Guys, Elevation Burger, Burger 21, Wayback Burger, Habit Burger, BurgerFi, Smashburger, b One Loudoun (plan b burger bar), and Burgerim. Then local favorites like Melt and The Burger Shack. Then there's also Fuddruckers, Red Robin, and the fast food places.

I like Elevation and Wayback because they give BOGO.
I ate at 5 Guys when they 1st opened many moons ago, the floor was crunchy from peanut shells....Melt is really good!
Since this has now turned into a burger discussions...favorites?

Five Guys - Bacon Cheese Burger, All the Way, no mustard. I specifically ask them to melt the cheese on the patties, instead of putting the cheese on the bun while waiting for the patties. They also have the best fries, hand cut peanut oil fried. In the summer, add a strawberry shake.

I agree about the Five Guys fries! I haven't tried all of them but I Habit Burger's burgers (less greasy than 5 guys, but grease aside I do love 5 guys burgers). I remember liking BurgerFi when I tried it years ago but I don't remember how it compares to the others.
