I heard about this....no tourney keeping fish in the well past the demarcation line. There are several other creeks that are off limits. Would be interested in hearing reaction from the big money tourneys.

I honestly think the big money ones are not the real issue. They are required to disperse the fish and use approved staging tanks as well. At least in MD they are. It is the small under 60 boat ones that create the issue. It is thought that a bass with LBV placed in the live well will infect the other bass in the well. But no proof is available that I can find. In fact complete denial of Largemouth Bass Virus even existing on the Potomac is the norm. We do know that it is a normal cycle for bass fisheries to shrink and rebound from lakes down south with LBV.
One exciting thing they learned is that a hybrid northern/Florida strain is totally resistant to it.
It is called the F1 strain and can survive well in our waters and grows bigger than northern s that occur here now. Va may decide to stock them or maybe MD and if they do they will mix with ours and carry the resistance to LBV with them.
The 18,000 put in Mattawomen are a mystery as to the strain. Maybe F1 and this why they wish to create a C&R area in the creek.
