Quantium Cabo and Smoke review

I currently own 6 Cabo 40 PT's and I now just purchased a Smoke 40 PTsA this week.
The 4 older Cabo 40 PT have handled reds up to 25 lbs and the daily grind of customers.. They are now 4 years old.. a drop of oil on the bail roller on them has been my only maintenance.  I think the three best things about them are:
1. Magnetic bail...no springs to ever wear out.
2. Titanium bail arm never bends after repeated drops in the boats.
3. Drag can go to 20lbs...
I have 2 of the newer Cabo 40 PT's and they are lighter and the handle more substantial. Got those last year and they have a season on them.
The newer Cabo 40 PT has a few best things about them in addition to what the older has:
1. Bigger handle
2. Lighter
3. Anti reverse super smooth

The New Smoke I got last week is very light and fast. Time will tell if this hold up like it's cousins.

Re: Quantium Cabo and Smoke review

I'll agree with that! I have a Cabo 30 that has been an absolute tank. I've been very pleased with it and I take it on all my trips! So far notable catches are a 38" rock in MA, an 8lb tog on a jig head in MA, a massive trigger in Belize, a 31" red in SC... list goes on. It's a little heavy compared to newer reels but I picked mine up used on SOL for dirt cheap and it never lets me down! I like that the bail wire keeps it's shape, no matter how squeezed it gets in my suitcase.

I picked up a Cabo 50 this year to go with an impulse buy on a Terez (American Legacy Fishing sale) and I can't wait to use it this spring!
