Cuba de Ayer

On Saturday I went to Cuba de Ayer, a Cuban restaurant in my home town that has been there for as long as I can remember. Not being that experienced with Cuban food I asked someone who is for recommendations on what to get. Ernie basically responded by drooling. Thankful the response was over email haha. Short of recommending everything, he recommended a 4 course meal. We only followed through with an appetizer and entre.

Appetizer:

Tostones Relleno

Everything was deeeelicious. Thanks for the help, Ernie! I especially liked their mixed beans and rice (Moros y Cristianos) that comes with the entre, yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I can't believed I lived all those years right there and never visited.  I took pictures but don't have time to upload them now, probably won't be able until later this week (sorry E tongue). If any of y'all are in the Burtonsville area, or have to pass nearby (say to Howard County or Baltimore) I would highly recommend this place for your Cuban fix!

Re: Cuba de Ayer

Forgot to take pictures last night as I was busy training 3 rookies on Cuban cuisine.

Excellent food......not quite Miami but close. Too bad it's so far from us.

The one in Frederick is closer and pretty good too.

Re: Cuba de Ayer

Maybe we ought to have a food section here!  I ate at a place called Wood Fire or Fire Wood down in Woodbridge (Stonebridge) and I have to tell you....it sucked for the price!  lol  I mean the food was sitting under the heater forever (mash taters had a hard coating on top) and the meatloaf was salty, salty.  Lot's more, but.....
