I have so much fun this spring with bait and loss of bait. To date I have lost 50 % of my shinners. 30 lbs of shinners lost this year to weather and tank malfunction. But the crappie are biting and my salty tanks are full and happy. Those Salties are tough baits. So I have a few catfish trips left and few crappie trips. Today I stop by the fish market and the place is packed to the gills. 45 minutes to park at 2pm is crazy. No mullet at any boat... So I am tring something new.. Boston Mackeral ... Never used them before for cats but they have all the stuff needed to bring in the big cats. Just to be sure I will cast net before we head out.
I have used false albacore and it worked ok..
More to follow.

Decided to just use the mackeral and forgo the cast net. It steaks nice and stays on the hook well enough but mullet is still better.
Caught 6 when no other boat caught fish yesterday. Zero hits on the Black Salties Sunday..
I used false albacore once and it worked about he same as mackeral. Fresh small blues worked pretty good..
Mullet just works best.

You gotta do what you gotta do!
This was a sleepy weekend for our fishies....

I wish there was a fish market out my way. Food Lion doesn't have much of a bait selection.
