On June 1st, I am participating in, or hope to, the Out of the Darkness Overnight Walk in DC.
In the Fall of 2011, I lost my uncle Kevin Do to suicide. It devastated my family. I want to do what I can to raise funds and awareness towards the cause so other families won't have to go through what we did.
The Out of the Darkness Overnight Walk is a 16-18 mile walk organized by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. In order for me to participate in the walk, I'm required to raise at least $1000.

Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated and mean a lot to me. Thank you for your support and even just reading.

Just checked up on you Andrew....almost there (81% of your goal of $1500). Only 16 days to go. I hope you have been walking and have some good shoes!
Congrats....this is a great cause. Your uncle would have been proud.

Thank you, Ernie!! I actually reached my goal so quickly I raised it to encourage more donations. I got several calls/emails congratulating me.
Couldn't have done it without you guys! Thank you so much.
I haven't been walking...i've been running shorter distances though. I see people training and i've been getting emails about training but...am i missing something? i feel like the hardest part about this is lack of sleep. I will try walking a few miles to see...
Thank you for your kind words! definitely means a lot to me.

16-18 miles is a long walk. I try do a 5 miles once a week and the dogs (feet) definitely feel it. Of course, I am older and weigh more than you but you should get a few longer walks in to get your muscles used to it.
