Any one interested in floating the Upper Potomac (location TBD) early on July 4th?
The plan would be to start early (sunrise??) so we can be done by noon. That way, we can be home for the family and the Independence Day festivities.
Let me know who might be interested and we will put a plan together. After all....we have plenty of time.

Andrew,
Yaks, canoes, toons...whatever. We will not be running any wild rapids. I will be fishing in my 13' Ocean kayak.

I'd love to join you guys but I'll be in California with my kids on vacation.
I hope to do a couple of trips out there before that. I'll give you guys a heads up in case anyone is interested in going before the 4th.

I might be able to, I'll have to check some things with my work situation though.

This is still on plan...I will get a list together when the date gets closer.

Man, Curly gets all the good trips
I'm actually leaving on the 5th to head north for a week, so I'll be packing on the 4th.

I have an extra kayak but it does not yet have a rod holder. Let's see if I get industrious and install a couple by then. I also have a canoe that will be available.

OK...here is what I am thinking for the 4th of July float!
1. We need to go early 'cause there will be crowds later
2. We need to go where there is deep enough water for the Hobies
So....I suggest we meet at Algonkian at 0630 and we can paddle/pedal up stream for a bit, fish for a while and then move upstream again and float back to the ramp. I am thinking 4-5 hours so we can get home by lunch.
Let me know if this works or do we need to rethink it? Who's in?
Ernie
PS- I will have an extra canoe and kayak should anyone need it.

Ernie, the my hobie should be fine in shallow water. As long as there's enough water to float in I dont see any problems.
Oh yeah, count SimonSays and I in!
Any tips/suggestions for lures to bring? I was thinking 3.5in tubes, 2in curly tail grubs, jigs and super flukes.

I will be out their if all goes well!

Andrew....you nailed it as fas as the lures go. I tend to bring too much. Jumping Jasper does great on tubes and grubs! I am thinking of staying strictly with the fly rod.....
See you guys there.

Coz,
You can use my canoe but you really need 2 people since you need to paddle upstream some.
So far, we have Andrew and Simon Says in a double yak, me in another yak, Charlie in his one man home made boat, maybe Carlos in his yak and.....we need to find one more boatless person for you.
Oh....I just realizd my other kayak will be unused....do you have a life jacket?

For all to know I was just at the Potomac around 12 in the afternoon...did not catch anything but I got a good look at the conditions. The water is shallow and really clear. I can see all the way down in most places. It is really rocky (blew out a prop on a rock and couldn't get up on plane on the way home so it took forever to get back to the ramp.) Their are also lots of fallen trees on the banks.

Ernie, is it ok for my other buddy to come along? He'll be in his own hobie. I might neeed him to pull be around if i get too tired
