Guide Tipping

Hello -
I know there are some guides on here as well as others who hire them.  I'm wondering what's typical etiquette for tipping a guide?  I've been using the 15-20% plus bonus for insightful advice or fish cleaning.  Is that what you use/are happy to receive?

While I'm trolling, I'm interested if anyone has a recommendation for a guide in Fort Lauderdale to do inshore for tarpons or barracuda at the end of this month?  Any help is appreciated.

Re: Guide Tipping

Your formula is what I use.

It's also helpful to discuss this before the trip (with your crew). I once went out with a few guys and one of them left $5 as a tip to be split with the Captain and mate. It was embarrassing to say the least. Oh....this guy has a house in the Hampton's as well as a $2MM condo in FL. While that is an exrtreme, it is still helpful to decide the tip up front. Some folks are a littel tight when it comes to this.

If you get to Miami and want to catch a Peacock bass, Capt. Mark Hall is the right guy. He can also put you on smaller tarpon in the canals and lakes.

Time to go fishin' again!
