Bob and I were hoping to perhaps hit the Severn for pickles but the wind forecast kept us close to the ramp/
We were on the water by 10:30a and had a good morning (well, Bob did) where we chose to start.
Bob caught 7 pickles and I caugh1...all by noon.
We also had a lot of hits (well, Bob did) which were frustrating but that's part of the game.
He needed some nice ones for the SRRKC Pickle tourney and I obliged! He got a 19"er and a 20.25" here, both needed for his 3 fish aggregate.
I think mine was 18"....
We then moved to a very well known pickle spot and helped a young lad out. He had thrown his lure into a tree branch that was hanging out over the water so we retrieved it for him. We gave him a few tips and he thanked us.
Shortly thereafter, I made a cast towards a downed tree and had a huge explosion! Even the fella on the shore saw it. But I did not hook up.
Then, Bob threw towards the underground cable (out a bit) and landed a decent one. That was his eighth and that would be the last fish.
We searched for some more bites for 3 hours. Toward the end, Bob got hit a few times and I had a nice pickle come near the boat to sniff out my Wonderlure spoon with a home dressed hook (by e). He must have nudged it 5 times but never took it.
The other highlights of the day was watching Bob thrown the clown (3" Shad Rap) into the trees. We had 2 of them that were impossible to get to but somehow, we got 'em! Good teamwork!
Bob stuck mainly to the clown rap but I wanted to catch 'em on different lures so I resisted tying one on. My spinnerbait, Joe's Fly In line and jerk bait never got a hit. My few hits all came for the spoon. Go figure!
It was nice out but it stayed chilly a lot longer than predicted. When the sun came out, it was very nice but I think it shut the pickle bite down.
And now...we get the snow blowers and shovels out for Wednesday's storm!

So a couple years ago I took my wife out on Dave's boat for a shad trip. I swear she lost 3 or 4 shad darts....we were by the Indian Trail wall and she threw them UP over the railing. Yeah, no teamwork getting those back. I think we're banned from his boat for shad now.
Where's the snow over/under post???

Nice job, Bpb! Sorry the bite was not hotter.

Love it when pickles save the day. I won't give up my Virginia pickle spots.

This spot is a so-so spot. I just didn't want to risk the 20 minute No Wake ride to find out there might be a washing machine at the end of the rainbow. We ran into 2 guys that went out in the same size boat as mine and when they came back, a significant amount of water was coming out of the drain hole after they pulled the plug. No bilge pump! They said it was rough and they took a few waves over the bow. And lots of beer on board. Not for me....
Water temp was 47df...one doesn't live for long if immersed.

Grub Thrower shared a few with me recently that assessable by kayak but a long drive
Nice job on the pickerel! Sounds like fun. Was chilly in the morning. How was boat traffic on a Saturday?

We just stayed in the creek but there was lots of activity in and out of the ramp. Yakers, paddleboards and even a sail boat.
There was another fisherman doing the same as us...might have help quiet the bite.

Wait, you’re still fishing? I thought you’d be hunkered down in your igloo by now.
