Got out early and solo.  I knew it would be dicey with the level at 1.6 feet.  You can see grass topping out some.



Tried one spot for topwater, but no takers.  There were a couple fish feeding but I could not reach them.  I then tried to make a run.  I got a ways before getting bogged down in grass.  I was trying to fish there with no luck.  Then I heard a boat coming upriver.  It was a jetboat that just ran straight up.  I decided to try and follow his path and that got me through and to some better-looking water further up.  It was less grass choked but I noticed it was more stained.

Anyway, I finally got the skunk out throwing a Storm sub-wart.



Little guy, but I was happy to have him.  I threw a few different lures before settling in with a swimbait on a sled head.  The weather was really nice and the wind was blowing downstream, so I took advantage of that.  After a little while, I got slammed.  It was a little fish that got the whole 3.8" bait in its mouth.



I continued with that bait for a while and caught one more little one before a fish bit the tail off.  Then I put a bigger 6th Sense swimbait on with a bigger hook.  I caught one little fish on it and then I cast it out and felt something take it.  I reeled down some and set the hook, but the line broke clean.  Not sure if it was a fish with teeth or what.

I was enjoying the weather.  The fishing was pretty tough.  I finally tied an 1/8-ounce screw lock ball head with a 2.8" keitech on a rod and started tossing that.  About 3 casts in, I got a nice bite.  After a jump and a nice fight, I finally landed a nice sized smallmouth.



That gave me hope.  It tore the bait a little, but I was able to re-rig it.  I did manage one more decent smallie on it before it was destroyed.



Of course I had not brought any more swimbaits in that size.  I tried using a grub with no luck.  Eventually I hooked one more tiny smallie  before I decided to head in. 

I enjoyed the morning and got to see Ospreys hunting and an Eagle chase them away.  I ended up with 7 smallies and got off the water by 12:30pm.  Water had dropped to 1.5 feet.
