I just looked it up! Today was a poor day to go fishing according to fishingreminder.com.

But you go when you can go!

Today, Roney joined me with CT Campbell. The day promised to be windless and warm (not hot). It was really nice out there. But the river was low and the grass has come in hard.

In the beginning, the BG's were active and I caught a few.

Then Roney took the smallie skunk off!

We each caught a few more bass but they were on the smallish size so no pics.

Ronnie stuck to the whopper plopper (or other versions0 for most of the day as he was getting some action (more in a few).

I stuck with what I normally use and while I aught a few, it was not like it usually is. The bouncing of a Z-man plastic off the bottom just did not work well. And the weightless fluke was not that much better.

But Roney kept throwing the WP. At one point, he was just about to take the lure out of the water when this torpedo came of of no where and destroyed his lure. It was violent and exhilarating. I wish I had a video...

This was a nice 17"er!

When we got to one hour hole, it was so low you could touch the bottom. Being that shalow, took me away from my game but not Roney. He kept throwing the WP and as he was retrieving it, he got demolished by this 19"er!!

What a rush that was!

I would catch one here and there and managed to lose 2 decent ones. Both took me to the back of the boat and I just could not get turned around a they both got off. The last one peeled some line. Screeeech!

Anyway, that's the way it goes.

While it was slower than usual, we had a good time and enjoyed a very nice day out on the water!

Thank you for the report ernie! You go when you can go and it's still better than going to work. Those were some good fish you found and the river...still beautiful.

You got out on a beautiful river on a nice day. Then you caught some fish and watched some good fish being caught on topwater. I can't think of the last time I caught a bluegill. Sounds like a good time to me. Good on Rony!

Fishing can be tough during mid-Summer. I can't even get my boat out unless we get a big bump.

Was just thinking that I used to spend most of July and August chasing white perch on UL tackle. But that game changed and I sold my boat.

I told Roney that it was worth the price of admission watching those 2 fish explode on the WP!

Throwing the WP or any variation of that is worth it. The strikes may be fewer but they can be violent and fun

I give him lots of credit for staying with it. Had a few snips at it which kept him in the game.

The low water and sun make that grass pop. We scraped bottom a few times but never got stuck. Hopefully, the rain last night bumped it up a bit but we still need some water volume.

Well, it's not a big bump but we have some water. Even the barge would be able to get out.
