Between life and work and weather, haven't been on the river in a while. That changed Friday when I took the day off and was able to get out in the afternoon for some smallmouth. Did a little solo single access outing in an area that has a lot of lead rock at the surface or above the water when it's at the level it is.
I got a swipe on a fluke a little bit into the afternoon but didn't hook up. But did land two small ones on the fluke a little bit after that. I was throwing a small swim bait and a crankbait and a top water Choppo also but not having much luck.
According to an area that had a little more faster water and a rough. 20 minutes where had four hits on the fluke and lost every one of them. Three was from off my braid breaking close to the hook and the other just popped off. So I ended up cutting that hole leader line off and tying a new one onto my braid.. solved the issue because I caught a couple more on the fluke including a 15-iner. Also caught a couple on a crankbait and a spinner bait with another one going 15 in.
Aside from that rough 20 minutes it wasn't too bad of an afternoon. Land 8 or 9 fish with two of them going 15 or 15 and 1/2 in. Okay

I agree with life in general and it's what we have to do to balance out....so take that leave. I'm trying to do a better job of it myself. Congrats on the good day out!
