Got out for speckled trout a couple times in January before the big freeze and had some luck. For the next couple months I only went out a few times in freshwater. Made a return trip to the salt in late March and I'm happy to report that a decent number of specks and reds survived the winter, I'm still not sure how but I'm definitely happy about it.

Did a little stocked trout fishing at Cossey Pond in February. Caught rainbows and a brown.
I made 3 trips to Lake Brittle to try to figure out the saugeye situation there. I caught fish on each trip but nothing of size. Some fish were on little grubs and a couple were on jerkbaits.

First trip back to the bay looking for survivors was a success! Caught on twitchbaits, jerkbaits, and swimbaits.

Made one more trip after that and the fish were scattered and tough to catch, but at least I know I'll have something to fish for on the flats this summer!

Dude, you do well wherever you go! Great to see the specks and the variety of catches. I like cosey but I haven't been in a while. I only ever keep 2-3 types of fish (trout/sh/walleye) so it's cool how you try all the different areas to figure out the bite!

Went out for a quick shore excursion at Lake Brittle and got a 21 and 22" saugeye. The bigger one had a 9" shad in its belly. Couldn't catch anything that size in 3 boat trips ![]()
